SCOPE:

It is a well-known fact that human error, and not force majeure, is, by far, the main contributing factor in marine accidents. This is a ‘blessing’ because it allows the improvement of the safety records, but this can only be achieved through a better understanding of human behavior. The aim of the course it to improve the participants’ respect for safety rules. This will be achieved by exposing them to the results of unsafe behaviour and then allowing them to reflect on the matter, before introducing the relevant theoretical material.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY:

A reflective learning approach is used where trainees are led through an experiential learning cycle as following: Getting involved with a concrete task; stepping back to reflect; create the theory; apply the rules; repeat if needed. This approach achieves higher learning efficiency, maximizes trainee participation and thus assist trainee satisfaction from the course. Video & case studies are used throughout. Customer-specific cases are welcome.
